Lori and Vayots Dzor Regional Issues Discussed


On January 22, the RA TAES Minister Armen Yeritsyan, with the participation of Lori Governor Arthur Nalbandyan, discussed the problem of debts in a number of communities of the region, due to rising energy prices and rising wages. The meeting was also attended by the mayors of Vanadzor, Stepanavan and Alaverdi.

Heads of the aforementioned urban communities and Jiliza rural community appealed to the Government of the Republic of Armenia with the request to allocate money to solve this problem.

The meeting discussed issues related to the problem, the mayors presented their rationales. It was noted, that the Community budgets do not allow the implementation of large-scale projects and the collection of own income tax is mainly aimed at solving urgent community issues. A number of problems in the communities was also presented, including renovation of roads and roofs of multi-apartment buildings, strengthening the damaged buildings, construction of kindergartens and so on.

The RA TAES Minister instructed to discuss the issue once again with the financial officers of city administrations, to specify the required amount, for the matter to be submitted to the Government.

On the same day, the RA TAES Minister Armen Yeritsyan held a consultative meeting devoted to Vayots Dzor region, particularly, to socio-economic problems of Jermuk.

Vayots Dzor Governor Harutyun Sargsyan presented the current situation in the communities regarding to collection of own incomes.

Jermuk Mayor Vardan Hovhannisyan asked for an additional 35 million drams from the state budget, for the compensation of the community electricity fees and salaries.

The Minister instructed TAES Deputy Ministers Vache Terteryan and Karen Isakhanyan, to examine the application of community financial assistance by involving relevant experts and to report back.

-It is impossible to solve all problems at once, but the current problems of communities should be solved, there can be no second opinion, - noted A. Yeritsyan.

The RA TAES Minister stressed, that such meetings will be periodical, and visits to the regions will also become frequently for discussing the problems on the spot.
