Minister Suren Papikyan received delegation led by USAID

On August 8 the Minister of Territorial Administration and Development of the Republic of Armenia Suren Papikyan received the delegation led by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Armenia Mission Director Deborah Grieser, special counsel Jeffrey Paretchan, public administration expert Bella Margaryan, as well as decentralisation expert Arthur Drapyan were also in the composition of delegation.

Welcoming the members of delegation, Suren Papikyan expressed gratitude toward the United States Agency for International Development for assistance reforms carried out in the local self-government system, for undertaking and implementing a number of economical and infrastructural programs in Armenia. The Minister assured that the Government of Armenia was sustainable to continue the implementation of reforms in the sphere of decentralisation and would undertake all necessary measures ensuring the further smooth process thereof.

Deborah Grieser, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Armenia Mission Director, expressing gratitude for the warm reception highly appreciated the high level of cooperation existing between the United States Agency for International Development and the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Development of the Republic of Armenia, emphasised that the Agency remaining faithful to its commitment in supporting administrative-territorial reforms implemented in Armenia, was ready to assist the Government's initiatives in this sector.

In the course of the meeting the sides also touched upon various issues regarded to the increase of capabilities of self-government bodies, granting administrative powers, effective and accountable administration, as well as issues pertaining to the separate elements of road map for decentralisation.
