Vache Terteryan Received Representatives of the United Nations Development Program and the Russian Governmental Delegation

On 31 October, the First Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Development of the Republic of Armenia Vache Terteryan received the representatives of the United Nations Development Program and the Russian Governmental Delegation including UNDP Deputy Resident Representative in Armenia Dmitry Mariyasin, Deputy Director of International Organizations Department of RF Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sergey Kononuchenko and officials of the Ministries of Finance and Economic Development of the Russian Federation.

After greeting the partners, Vache Terteryan highly appreciated the achievements of 5-year-program "Integrated Support to Rural Communities Development. Strengthening Community Resistance" and 3-year-program "Integrated rural tourism development" financed by the Russian Federation and implemented by UNDP and gladly confirmed that they are one of the successful programs implemented jointly with the RA Ministry of Territorial Administration and Development demanded by the population.The Deputy Minister also added that the programs with their economic component offer a wide range of opportunities for identifying and developing a range of socio-economic capacities in rural areas which will be aimed at strengthening stability through the creation of extra income in the regions.
UNDP Deputy Resident Representative in Armenia Dmitry Mariyasin expressed gratitude for reception and mentioned that thanks to the ongoing work of about a year and a half, positive results have already been recorded, which will ensure the stabilization of the socio-economic environment of the settlements and the development of tourism with their developing and growing skills.

Deputy Director of International Organizations Department of RF Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sergey Kononuchenko expressed gratitude on behalf of his delegation for reception and emphasized that the Russian Federation is interested in developing relations with the Republic of Armenia, as a key partner, in various formats of inter-regional cooperation.
Sergey Kononuchenko also highlited the multiplicative effects of the programs emphasizing the imperative to improve the living standards and income levels of the bordering rural communities.

Among other things, during the meeting, the sides summed up the results of the work carried out within the framework of the programs, evaluated their effectiveness, considered the opportunities of expanding the geography of programs and promoting the development of rural tourism in the prospective directions of other areas, as well as the opportunities for promoting interregional tourism between the two countries.
